For the Profession of Human Resources, you can gain HR certification with the HRCI organization.

SPHR – Senior Professional of Human Resources – strategic focused HR scenario decision making – 6-8 years of exempt HR experience recommended, 3+ years of HR experience required to take the exam.

EXAM: 225 Questions – 6 Modules – 4 hour exam

PHR – Professional of Human Resources – operational HR focus – 3 years of exempt HR experience recommended, 2+ years of HR experience required to take the exam.

EXAM: 225 Questions – 6 Modules – 4 hour exam

GPHR – Global Professional of Human Resources – global strategic decision making – 3 years of global HR experience recommended & required to take the exam.

EXAM: 165 Questions – 5 Modules – 3 hour exam

SHRM learning center has good self study based books & exam questions that simulates the type of random exam questions from the extensive HR “Body of Knowledge” required to master at each of the individual levels – SPHR PHR GPHR – to PASS gaining certification for 3 years requiring re-certification credits as regulated by HRCI.
